Dennis Flanders made a speciality of gently understated topographical watercolours. The book "Dennis Flanders, R.W.S., R.B.A. Watercolours in Academe" contains, in the main, special commissions undertaken in the last seven years of his life, of academic institutions which represent some of the most glorious architecture in Britain. Most subjects have been issued as limited edition prints and here they are brought together as a collection in Watercolours in Academe.
Malcolm Horton's text is the perfect accompaniment; brief but informative. He published and was responsible for the conception and organization of the arts/alumni projects which have given birth to most of the pictures in the book. During which time he worked closely with Dennis Flanders until his death in August, 1994 and the academic institutions concerned.
